Netflix has become the home of many phenomenal miniseries. From the multiple-award-winning The Queen's Gambit to the macabre fan favorite The Haunting of Hill House, the streaming giant has proven time and time again that some of their best content comes from these single-season standouts. Yet, with the amount of miniseries and original content across all streaming platforms, sometimes excellent ones get overlooked.
While landing in Netflix's top 10 for streaming, The Glass Dome has flown under the radar for many others. This reflects a dedicated fan base of phenomenal crime thrillers, regardless of country of origin, but is limited to a larger audience. Still, here is why The Glass Dome is a miniseries you must check out, joining in with what many have already come to love.

Lejla Ness (Léonie Vincent) has overcome great adversity, having been the target of a childhood abduction, only to dedicate her life to protecting others as a criminologist. After the death of her foster mother, Lejla returns to her hometown of Granås to help take care of affairs. It is here that the past comes back to haunt her after the disappearance of a young girl, Alicia, the daughter of a late childhood friend. Lejla decides to solve the case, but its ties to her past make it a highly emotional and challenging quest.
The growing interest in international content is undoubtedly at its peak, with countries like Korea dominating streaming with over-the-top yet stylized game shows and binge-worthy drama series. However, many European, foreign-language productions get overlooked as the talent is less established, and there is less cultural interest. The Glass Dome has a lot of talent in its production, both behind and in front of the camera. Writers Amanda Högberg and Axel Stjärne do an exceptional job working with acclaimed Swedish author Camilla Läckberg to create an engaging story about loss, redemption, and justice. Directors Henrik Björn and Lisa Farzaneh have cut their teeth in the TV genre, having previously worked on acclaimed thrillers.

Hirokazu Kore-eda returns to Netflix with 'Asura.' It's a masterpiece with 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and yet hardly anybody is talking about it.
Léonie Vincent may be newer to the screen, with The Glass Dome marking her first significant leading role in a TV series, but her performance as Lejla Ness is deceptively seasoned and complex for a young actor. She plays brilliantly well off seasoned actors Johan Hedenberg and Johan Rheborg. Beyond its engaging story, the cast and crew are essential to the success of The Glass Dome, and it is wonderful to see an audience give Swedish-language TV a chance under the experienced guidance of the cast.
Why 'The Glass Dome' Is Worth Watching
Like any great crime thriller, The Glass Dome brings plot twists and turns that will keep audiences guessing across its six episodes. Yet, the emotional depth of Lejla Ness's struggle with her past and her desperation to save another makes the series more gripping than other similar series.
As mentioned, Léonie Vincent's performance here is phenomenal; she is able to explore the complexity of her character and navigate the many complex emotions she feels. Those familiar with 'Scandinavian noir' will also find the dark atmosphere and immersive storytelling top-notch. The miniseries consists of six episodes, offering a gripping, stylized mystery that Netflix viewers can easily binge over a weekend. Stream The Glass Dome on Netflix.
