Alice in Wonderland can be considered one of the first isekai anime and is a must-watch not only for its quality animation that still holds up despite the passage of time, but also for the creative liberties taken by the studio, which set it apart from other adaptations. In this version, Alice is not trapped in this world by willingly coming and going, returning home at the end of every episode. Also, in its 52 episodes, the anime adapts in equal parts Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Although many fans may not know this anime version, Alice in Wonderland is one of the most popular stories, which has inspired several other great series, like Alice in the Country of Hearts: Wonderful Wonder World, Miyuki-chan in Wonderland by CLAMP, and Alice in Borderland, which was adapted into a highly acclaimed live-action version for Netflix. It's even said that one of the greatest anime movies, Spirited Away by Hayao Miyazaki, is inspired by Alice’s story.
Every version has its own appeal, but Nippon Animation and Apollo Film were able to infuse Alice in Wonderland with magic that evokes an ageless old-school classic feeling with its fair share of silliness and fun, which makes it a great addition to any collection. Even though it was underrated during its run, Alice in Wonderland's anime is sure to give every viewer a great experience, and for anyone interested in watching this classic, the DVD by Dreamscape Media with its affordable price is the best option.

Based on the stories of Lewis Caroll, Alice in Wonderland follows the adventures of a young girl after she finds herself in a magical world. She finds Wonderland colorful and enchanting, but it's dangerous, too: Alice quickly falls afoul of the Red Queen, who has a preoccupation with beheadings.
